Erie Canal Village is run by a non-profit. We can’t espress our appreciation enough for the efforts of volunteers who help make the Village available to others to enjoy.
BENNETT’S TAVERN
The Village has contracted with a building restoration specialist to stabilize the foundation of this beautiful building.
Village and Volunteers
Painting the outside will begin as soon as the work is done.
Once the stabilization has completed and we receive approval from the City of Rome code department, we will start renovating the interior. We look forward to when guests will be able to use the spacious bottom stairs tavern for events with the dance / meeting hall on the third floor.
BENNETT’S TAVERN SHED
Licensed Contractor on retainer
The attached shed on the back of Bennett’s Tavern has collapsed under the weight of seasonal snow. Erie Canal Village has asked City of Rome code for an emergency permit to prevent further damages to Bennett’s Tavern.
The Village has contracted with a local Rome contractor to remove the shed and ensure no further damage is done to Bennett’s Tavern.
